Iyengar (Belur, India, 1918), concentrates on the alignment of the body in the different asanas (postures) to develop flexibility, strength and awareness of the body and the spirit. Based on Hatha yoga, B.K.S. Iyengar organised more than 200 classical postures and 14 types of pranayama (breathing control exercises). He brought precision and alignment in the various asanas to their highest level. The exacting research of the anatomical principles and beneficial effects have brought in the use of props (blocks, straps, blankets…) so that everyone can benefit from yoga, irrespective of age or physical condition…
